Facebook IPO on Schedule for Late May
Facebook's highly anticipated IPO is scheduled for the third week of May, according to a report on All Things D which is owned by Dow Jones & Co.
Should this date be correct, Facebook would need to files its documents with the SEC within a month since the process for review can take up to four months.
The Facebook IPO is expected to become one of the top 10 biggest IPOs of all time, and likely the biggest tech IPO ever. The company has been valued at $100 billion and expect countless article between now and when it finally goes public arguing the valuation.
Much like Groupon and Zynga's IPOs, Facebook's IPO date could be changed depending on several factors, including market conditions at the time. Companies going public look for the most favorable market conditions at opening, even though Facebook's IPO has been in waiting for so long the conditions will likely have little effect on its demand.
Groupon's IPO was much more successful than Zynga's. Having opened at $14.85, Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPN) hit a high of $31.14 before dropping back down to it's current price of $19.15.
Zynga Inc. (NASDAQ: ZNGA) was expected to open at around $10 a share and actually opened much lower at $7.97. It then hit a high of $11.50 before settling at $8.87 a share where it sits today.
