David Kleinman Wins UofT Biology Competition
The Toronto high school student has won the competition for the second time in a row.
David KleinmanPic: TDSBToronto high school student David Kleinman has won the University of Toronto Biology competition. This is the second time the North Toronto CI student has won the prestigious award.
More than 4,500 students from 319 schools competed in the 16th annual Biology Competition. The students’ exam was 75 minutes long and covered such topics as cell structure and processes, biological diversity, cell metabolism, ecology, and genetics. The exam included 50 multiple choice questions that were prepared by University of Toronto’s Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Cell & Systems Biology departments.
The Toronto District School Board reports the city’s students fared well in the competition. In addition to Kleinman, three other students from Toronto – Yuchen Cui, Run Ze Cao and Qingda Hu – placed in the Top 10.
North Toronto students have won the award for four years running – three of those by Kleinmans. In 2008, David’s older brother, Robert, won the competition.
