Last night, Drake hosted the 2011 Juno Awards in Toronto. A requirement of hosting any awards show is to entertain the audience and viewers with pre-taped sketches that are aired throughout the evening.

The opening segment featured Drake receiving a phone call via Skype from fellow Canadian pop sensation, Justin Bieber, who was unable to attend the show because he’s in the middle of a European tour. Bieber finds a present from Drake in his dressing room overseas which elicits an emotional response.

“It’s just that play-off season is starting, and the new season of Degrassi is starting… I just feel like people have forgotten about me,” Biebs says.

Drake tells Bieber that no one, especially not his home country, could ever forget him. This tender reassurance leads to the pair singing a duet to Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You”.

Another memorable sketch included Drake seeking a new audience for his new album, Take Care. He heads to a nursing home in hopes of impressing an older crowd. He leads a few hilarious rap lessons and teaches the seniors how to party like a member of Young Money. By the end of the skit, he’s successfully assembled his new crew, Old Money.

It was very disappointing to see that Drake didn’t go home with a single award, but as a host… he was definitely a winner.
