Glee to Hit the Big Screen
Big news for fans of Fox's hit show.
The cast of Glee.Pic: NILLGleeks of the world, this one’s for you: The Fox television hit is being made into a feature film.
The movie will bring the successful Glee Live! In Concert! North American tour to the silver screen in the aptly titled Glee Live! 3D!
“This tour was all about going out and performing for our amazing fans who have supported our show from the beginning, but due to the limited time we had to travel during our hiatus, there were only so many cities we could get to before we had to resume work on the television series. We promise every passionate ‘Gleek’ a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles,” explained Glee creator Ryan Murphy.
Twentieth Century Fox’s film and television division announced that the film would be a “limited two-week engagement” commencing on August 12. It will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen (at the helm of 2009’s Fame remake) and produced by Murphy.
Featured Glee stars in both the concert tour and film include: Lea Michelle, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley and most of the younger cast members both Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison have yet to commit to either the 2011 tour or film.
The cast will be performing such ditties as “I’m a Slave 4 U.” “Teenage Dream.” and original numbers such as, “Hell to the No!” and “Loser Like Me.”
The Glee Live! In Concert tour begins in Las Vegas May 21 and wraps on June 18 in New York City .
