Canadian Pays 10k for James Franco’s Invisible Art

Over the last year, it seems that James Franco has become involved in so many projects (music, art, teaching, theatre.. to name a few) that most of us completely forgot about his collaboration with art duo, Praxis, to raise money for the Museum of Non-Visible Art.

So how much would you pay for invisible art? And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like… artwork that is not visible. Still don’t get it? You are buying nothing.

Montreal-based, Aimee Davison, has decided to purchase the most expensive piece of invisible art entitled “Conceptual-Fresh Air” for $10,000.

Now you’re probably wondering what would possess someone in their right mind to invest hard earned dollars in, well, nothing. Davison, who identifies as a web producer, social media marker, model, and actor, stated that she “identified with the ideology of the project” and “wanted to endorse it”.

Well, that’s all fine and dandy… but what’s the real reason?

“I sensed that Franco’s project was controversial and I wanted to participate in the controversy and possibly benefit from it. Buying a modestly priced piece would not have made the same bold statement or entitled me to the same level of collaboration with Praxis as buying the most expensive item.” Davison explains.

Ahhh… now I get it. She invested 10k towards self-publicity and the chance to meet James Franco. That makes a little more sense, I suppose.
