Mila Kunis, Seth Rogen and others to visit Sesame Street
Many A list celebrities are confirmed for the new season of Sesame Street
Children’s classic Sesame Street is coming back for it’s 42nd season with a star studded season including Mila Kunis, Nicole Kidman, Robin Williams, Liev Schreiber, Amy Adams, Naomi Watts, James Marsden, Seth Rogen, Jason Schwartzman, and Jerry O’Connell.
The PBS show earned popularity and recognition by their knack to successfully combine fun and memorable characters with educational fare. This season is no exception- parents will be happy to know that the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) system will be the focus.
The STEM curriculum is a major component of the Obama administration. Sesame Street will incorporate all elements of this system into the segments. For example, “Murray’s Science Experiments” will follow the orange monster conducting age-appropriate science experiments. In the season premiere, Murray will launch a device to fly Hubert the Human Cannonball into a bucket of blue gelatin.
According to Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, Vice-President of Education and Research, Sesame Workshop, “’Sesame Streets’ curriculum fosters children’s natural inclinations to ask questions and encourages investigation and experimentation in order to make new discoveries.
“By approaching STEM education as an integrated discipline through the process of scientific inquiry, rather than individual domains, the curriculum helps children develop a better understanding of how things work, and builds stronger cognitive reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving skills.” Truglio continued.
The 42nd season of Sesame Street will premiere on PBS on September 26th, 2011.
