James Franco to direct Porn Doc
James Franco plans to direct a documentary about the Porn Industry
Is there anything James Franco isn’t getting involved in this year? It seems within a 12-month time-span, he has graduated from actor heartthrob to Oscar nominated professor, invisible art curator, musician, and now… Porn Director. Okay, so that’s a little unfair… Porn industry documentarian.
Franco’s recent appearance on Conan had him discussing a time when he and his ex-girlfriend filmed themselves having sex. He commented that after watching the footage, they promised each other that it would never be watched again. He also led the audience to believe that this amateur encounter was his only foray into the world of porn.
Well, recent news informs us differently. James Franco is currently in the networking and research phase of a documentary about the fascinating world of porn.
“There’s this amazing facility in San Francisco,” said Franco. “It’s at this old armory and they do everything in house, they build their props in house, so I’m making a documentary about that. It’s an incredible place.”
The facility he’s describing is the headquarters for Kink.com. TMZ reports that he was seen recently at the building speaking with some of the employees. Kink.com apparently paid $14.5 million to move into the San Francisco Armory in 2006. That really must be something magical about the property.
Franco took a tour of the facility in June, and plans to return in the coming months to commence filming.
Very little information has been released about the film otherwise. We are unsure whether Kink.com will be the sole focus of the documentary, or just an integral part. We will be sure to keep you updated.
