The hit play My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy is heading to Toronto in October. The popular comedy -- which played in New York City for about two years -- is set to hit the stage on Oct. 12 for a 12-week engagement at the Bathurst Street Theatre.
My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy has nabbed a couple of awards, including the Audience Choice Award for Favourite New Play by Broadway.com. The one-man comedy was written by Steve Solomon, who recounts what it was like growing up in his family.
The popular play has spawned two sequels: My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish and I'm STILL in Therapy and My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish and I'm Home for the Holidays! The three plays are touring the United States.
Solomon spends more than 40 weeks a year performing in one of his shows. He trains actors to take part in some of the productions. Producers have yet to announce who will star in the Toronto production of the award-winning play.
My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy is produced by Dana Matthow, Bud Martin and Philip Roger Roy, who produced the Toronto production of Let My People Come back in the 1980s.
