John Galliano Found Guilty of “Public Insults”
Disgraced Former Dior Designer fined 6,000 Euros, avoids jail time
Galliano, who lost his job after a video of him professing his love for Adolph Hitler surfaced in March, maintains that he had been under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at the time of the incident, and still claims that he does not remember his tirade during which he made anti-Semitic comments to at least three people in the café.
The controversial fashion designer – who was not in the courtroom when the verdict was announced - was fined 6,000 Euros ($8,335 Canadian), but avoided any prison time. One symbolic euro has been awarded to each of the plaintiffs.
