The “hardest working man in show business” award would arguably go to Mr. James Frano these days. The perpetually working actor has just signed on to Harmony Korine’s latest offering, Spring Breakers. Written and directed by Korine (Kids, Gummo, Mr. Lonely), the film follows four university girls who rob a fast food restaurant to finance a trip to Florida for, (wait for it) Spring Break. Subsequently upon their arrival to the Sunshine State, said co-eds are promptly arrested. Enter Franco as (wait for it) a rapping drug and arms dealer named Alien, who bails the girls out, then wants them to kill his arch nemesis aptly named Arch. Emma Roberts (Scre4m, Valentine’s Day) has reportedly signed on as one of the aforementioned college gals, who is incidentally addicted to the thrill of danger.

Anyone familiar with most of Korine’s oeuvre will attest to the fact that this ought to be several paces left of “normal”, but that may or may not be a bad thing. Undoubtedly, this will prove to be one of Frano’s more bizarre roles to date.

The film is slated for principal photography in Florida during Spring Break 2012. No word yet when it will be released.

Frano was last seen in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Korine last helmed the feature-length Trash Humpers.
