Agreement Reached to End NBA Lockout
2011-12 Season will begin on Christmas day with triple header
The season, as proposed by the new agreement, would be a condensed 66 game season which would begin on Christmas day with a triple header. It was rumored that should the players and owners not come to an agreement to start the season by Christmas, that the 2011-12 seasons would have been cancelled.
The exact details of the agreement have not been made public, but it is generally understood that the owners are winners of these CBA negotiations. Regardless of who got the better deal, the NBA season is back on, and that's a great way to start a Saturday morning.
The real lossers here are the international teams that brought NBA players over hoping the NBA season would be lost. Almost all the players have an out clause should the NBA season be salvaged, and now that it has, will be leaving their teams and returning to the States to practice and prepare for the upcoming NBA season.
Teams like Maccabi Tel Aviv which got both New Jersety Nets point guard Jordan Farmer, and more recently Israeli born Omri Casspi, will now need to play the remainder of the season without their top talent, and have lost almost all hope of winning the Euroleague Championship. Almost makes me wish the lockout never ended. Almost.
