Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” Dress Sells for £43,200
Proceeds from the Disaya-designed dress were donated to The Amy Winehoouse Foundation.
"We are just over the moon and we owe a great debt to the designer, Disaya, who donated the proceeds from the sale,” Mitch Winehouse said after the auction.
Organized by Kerry Taylor Auctions, the auction included dresses worn by Elizabeth Taylor, and the ivory lace gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in 1953’s Roman Holiday. The Edith Head creation that Hepburn wore to accept her Best Actress Oscar for Holiday, fetched £70,000 ($109,926).
Winehouse’s first posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures will hit stores on December 5th in the U.K., and December 6th in the United States. For every album sold, £1 ($1.57 US) will be donated to The Amy Winehouse Foundation.
"We are particularly keen to make donations in Camden, a place very close to the family's hearts as Amy's home,” Mitch Winehouse stated.
The album features previously unreleased songs and demos, including Winehouse’s final studio recording, “Body and Soul”, her Tony Bennett duet.
