Dudu Fisher started off as a cantor at the Great Synagogue of Tel Aviv when he was just 22. He became enchanted with Les Miserables after seeing the Award-winning musical during a trip to London in the 1980s. When the singer learned that there was going to be an upcoming production of the show in Hebrew, he auditioned (even though Fisher had no experience in theatre). He landed the lead role of Jean Valjean and eventually played the part on Broadway and in London’s West End.

The Israeli singer has performed around the world -- including songs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish -- and he’ll be in Toronto tomorrow (Dec. 20) for a concert at The Toronto Centre for the Arts.
