Watching a competitive food eating competition is on par with closely observing a fatal traffic accident… or I suppose watching Dexter and cheering him on while he brutally murders one of his victims.

Have you ever witnessed the hot dog eating challenges where participants are expected to down the bun as well? They sit at their station with a large glass of water, drenching the dense white bun in the liquid until it’s a soggy mess so it goes down faster? Disgusting.

So you may ask why I’ve chosen to promote Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti and his most recent accomplishments. This man currently holds the world record for eating 17 corned beef sandwiches in 10 minutes. Perhaps I’m a hypocrite, or perhaps I commend the guy for ditching red meat, bread, and cheese and focusing his attention on everyone’s favorite overly saccharine holiday beverage- Manischewitz.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Manischewitz (although I’m sure there aren’t many), it is labeled as wine, but in fact tastes like the sweetest grape juice you’ve ever had. Every time I give it to a non-Jewish friend for the first time, the response is always “This doesn’t have alcohol in it. I could drink this with my eggs for breakfast”…. And it’s true.

Ok, I’m stop blabbing about one of my favorite holiday indulgences. Enjoy the video below (courtesy of TMZ) featuring “Deep Dish” downing two full bottles of Manischewitz in less than one minute.

Happy Chanukah/Hanukkah to all!
