Excerpts From Mein Kampf to be Published in Germany
A British publisher intends to publish three 15-page extracts from Hitler's book.
The proposed cover design of the Mein Kampf excerpts“The ministry will consider legal action against a publication for failing to comply with the copyright act,” Bavaria’s Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
“It is a sensitive subject in Germany but the incredible thing is most Germans don’t have access to Mein Kampf because it has this taboo, this ’black magic’ surrounding it. We want Mein Kampf to be accessible so people can see it for what it is, and then discard it. Once exposed, it can be consigned to the dustbin of literature,” said Peter McGee, head of publishing at Albertas Ltd in London.
There will be a planned print run of 100,000 copies of the three extracts, with each page containing the original text next to critical commentary. The cover design of the Mein Kampf excerpts features a photograph of Hitler, with a black bar obscuring his eyes that reads, “Das Unlesbare Buch”, or “The Unreadable Book”.
