Comedian Sandra Bernhard, best known for her portrayal of Nancy on Roseanne (one of TV’s first lesbian characters), revealed in a recent interview with Howard Stern that she was originally offered the role of Miranda Hobbes on HBO’s Sex and the City.

As we all know, Sex and the City achieved indescribable international success and an enormous cult following, but Bernhard does not regret her decision for one second. In fact, she admits that the initial script was terrible and believes Sarah Jessica Parker would be intolerable to work with.

"It has nothing to do with selling out, it just wasn't any good," Bernhard explained to Stern.

"Had it been a good script, had I thought it had legs, I would have done it...even Cynthia Nixon admits it didn't catch on until second or third season." She continued.

"I would have had to play third or fourth fiddle to Sarah Jessica Parker and put up with her s**t," Bernhard said of Sex and the City’s star and execute producer. "It would have been hideous to work with her."

Stern mentioned the widespread rumours that Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall had on-set tension.

"Ask any of those ladies on that show...nobody gets along, I don't think." Bernhard responded.
