Not since 2008’s Synecdoche, New York, have we been graced with the brilliant, mad mind that is writer/director Charlie Kaufman’s. However, come 2013, there shall be a part of not one, but two features. The first, an as-yet-untitled reunion with his Being John Malkovich director, Spike Jonze, and the second being Frank or Francis, which he not only wrote but will also direct.

In typical Kaufmanesque fashion, the film is described as “a satire of Hollywood set to music, where a film director feuds with a blogger”. The aforementioned film director (Frank) will be played by funnyman Steve Carell, the blogger (Francis) by equally humorous funnyman, Jack Black. Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, and Kevin Kline will also star. Most recently, Elizabeth Banks has signed on to the film. Evidently, she plays an actress who consistently makes rom-com bombs, and likewise, is having an affair with Carell’s character. Presently, Banks can be seen in the unambiguously titled, Man on a Ledge.

Although there has been no exact date, we wait with baited breath for Frank or Francis to be released some time next year.
