Last summer, Roseanne announced her intentions to run for presidency while being interviewed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. At the time, her statement was not taken seriously. It was assumed she was merely sharing her disappointment in the current political system and assuming she could do a better job. Well, now Roseanne has a chance to prove her political worth. The comedic actress has submitted the paperwork to officially run for the Green Party nomination.

“Both the Democratic and Republican parties are bought and paid for by corporate America and cater to the needs of the highest bidder as opposed to the people they claim to represent. I cannot be bought.” Barr said in a Green Party Watch statement.

"I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS," the comedian said Thursday on Twitter. "I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice."

Barr plans to run a grassroots campaign, mostly utilizing Twitter and her access to mainstream media.

On Thursday, Barr posted a slew of tweets, including a promise to institute “#Europeanstyle” healthcare within the first 100 days of her term. Additionally, she plans to forgive all debt (credit cards and mortgages) “by kicking out the FED-those to whom all this fake debt is owed.”

In a recent presidential nomination poll conducted by the Green Party, Roseanne got 29%- a distant second to Jill Stein.

“I will run until the convention in July in Baltimore-I fully expect Jill Stein 2b the nominee& I will support her, but til then-I'll serve," Roseanne tweeted.

So what is her platform? In May 2010, she outlined her three step plan: legalize marijuana, get more women into government, and outlaw ‘bull’. No news yet as to whether her platform has changed over the last year and a half.
