New York and Boston Mayors Team Up for Gun Control Super Bowl Spot
Football rivalries aside, Bloomberg and Menino join together in support of gun control in America.
“We don’t agree on much, but we both support the Second Amendment and believe America must do more to keep guns out of the hands of criminals,” the pair said in the ad.
“You know, over 600 mayors across the country agree on common sense reforms that would save lives,” Bloomberg explains.
“Add your voice,” Menino stated.
Many believe that the polarizing subject of gun control in America ought to be revisited, and emphasized during the 2012 election.
“As mayors, our highest responsibility is to enforce the law and to protect the people we serve. One of the most difficult challenges we face in meeting this responsibility is preventing criminals from illegally obtaining guns and using them. The issue of illegal guns is not conservative or liberal; it is an issue of law and order -- and life or death,” both Bloomberg and Menino wrote on the organization’s site.
