Scarlett Johansson Believed Friends Leaked Nude Photos
The actress became incredibly paranoid after nude photos of her were leaked online, believing that a friend might be involved.
Last September, Scarlett Johansson was one of many celebrity victims (including Mila Kunis and Christina Aguilera) to have nude photos stolen from her cell phone that were leaked online. Hacker Christopher Chaney was arrested in connection to the scandal, but at first the actress feared that one of her friends might have been the culprit.
The photos taken by Johansson in private for her then-husband, Ryan Reynolds, featured the “We Bought a Zoo” star topless lying in bed and completely nude (from the back) standing in her bathroom.
While speaking to Britain’s Stylist magazine, she explains how the experience made her “incredibly paranoid.”
“It was really terrible; I felt absolutely violated. I wasn’t really aware of how vulnerable all of us are, but I think everybody is just discovering that now, especially with the recent phone-hacking scandals. It isn’t just celebrities, it’s all kinds of people who are not asking for the spotlight.
“Being hacked made me feel more vulnerable than I ever had previously. I couldn’t figure it out. For a while, I thought it must be someone that I knew who was posting these pictures of me and that was making me incredibly paranoid. I was looking around at all of my friends, who I have known for 20 years, wondering who the backstabber was.”
After Chaney was arrested on 25 counts, Johansson admits that she felt strangely relieved.
“To find out it wasn’t a friend who hacked in was a relief, oddly.”
