Clothing Ad Feat. Gal Gadot Deemed Pornographic
Members of Knesset were not pleased with the ‘Fast and the Furious’ actresses’ commercial.
Gal GadotIsrael’s Castro clothing has launched its latest television commercials featuring a nearly naked Gal Gadot- with the slogan “If you’re not well-dressed, you’re not dressed at all.” The Israeli supermodel is completely nude, save for some strategic pixelating. In the commercial (seen below), Gadot walks onto an elevator filled with dressed people. Another version of the commercial was also released featuring male model, Yonatan Wegman.
Although I’m sure most of Israel’s population are pleased to see Gadot and Wagman nearly nude, nine members of Knesset were not amused, deeming the commercial “pornographic.”
A letter addressed to Castro Clothing and Channel 2 (where the commercials were broadcast) was written by Uriel Ariel of National Union, and signed by eight other Knesset members. They request a banning of the advertisement, stating the models are “naked like the day they were born, with only a slight blur obscuring their private parts.” Their greatest argument is that the ad is aired during peak viewing hours, when young children are most likely watching television.
In response, Castro claims that their models were never nude. They wore the company’s lingerie and in the editing process, the lingerie-covered parts were pixilated to create an illusion of nudity.
”There is no law preventing a company like ours from filming lingerie,” the company said.
A rep from Channel 2 admits the network has received many complaints and intends to investigate the matter.
