Canadian-born Kathleen Reiter, 23, was crowned winner of the first season of "The Voice" Israel Saturday night, March 31st.

Throughout the audience, Canadian friends and supporters could be seen waving Canadian flags in excitement.

Kathleen made aliyah from Montreal just weeks prior to her audition. Her win has garnered her an international recording contract with Universal Helicon

"I'm touched. Thank you all for voting for me. I want to thank my family and friends, both in Israel and Canada,” said Reiter who managed to win the hearts of the national viewing audience and the show's mentors.

Reiter, who had taken voice lessons in Montreal since she was 12 and took part in singing competitions— was also named the winner of Montreal’s Jewish Idol in 2004 at age 15.

It was an emotional performance of British singer Adele’s Rolling in the Deep last October that had the judges of the Israeli The Voice all but battling each other for the opportunity to take this gifted young woman under their wing.
