The Revolver Golden Gods awards aired on April 11th via webcast, and KISS’ Gene Simmons was genuinely touched by his new statue.

The Golden God is an annual award given to the musician that most embodies “the spirit of hard rock and metal.”

Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue presented the award to Simmons, who had just won an award himself for Best Bassist.

“All of us had dreams, all of us were kids at one point. Some of us got lucky, to get up on stage. Something strange happens when you get on the stage, it’s holy ground. This is electric church baby, we do it for you. Without you… all of us, we’re nobody. We’re asking the next guy in line, ‘would you like fries with that?’ So my debt of gratitude to you for making this come true. I hope all your dreams come true,” Simmons said during his speech.

KISS and Motley Crue are co-headling a much-anticipated tour this summer, starting on July 20th in Bristow, VA.
