Scooter Braun Making Doc About Public School Dropout Crisis
Justin Bieber’s manager joins Adam McKay to produce important documentary
Justin Bieber and Scooter BraunAfter the success of “Bully”, documentarians are realizing the positive change film can have on today’s youth.
Comedy director, Adam McKay (Funny or Die, Anchorman), is currently producing a serious documentary about the epidemic of dropouts in American public schools. Deadline has reported that Scott “Scooter” Braun, manager to Justin Bieber, The Wanted, and Carly Rae Jepsen, has just signed on to co-produce the film with McKay.
The project began development last fall when McKay “hooked up” documentary filmmaker, Jason Pollock. Braun’s previous documentary film experience included 2011’s “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never”.
“Addressing the education crisis in America, which includes providing support for the communities and students where ‘dropout factories’ exist, has to become a priority for our country,” Braun said in a statement. “We hope that this project reminds everyone, from career politicians to kids sitting in their dorm rooms, how important it is that every child receives a quality education and as a community it is our responsibility to step up and do everything we can to make sure that happens.”
According to Deadline, the filmmakers hope to use the footage from their documentary to tour schools after the upcoming presidential election.
The actor has been seen throughout New York City, shooting 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'.
