Andy Samberg Says Goodbye to SNL With ‘Lazy Sunday’ Sequel [VIDEO]
The comedian created a sequel to the digital short that made him famous in 2005.
On this weekend’s Mick Jagger-hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ episode, the cast said farewell to the brilliant Kristin Wiig with an emotional send-off… but although not confirmed, it seems ‘SNL’ might have said goodbye to Andy Samberg as well, in a more subtle way.
In 2005, Andy Samberg released ‘Lazy Sunday’, a digital short that quickly went viral and catapulted him to Internet stardom. Now, 7 years later, Samberg returned with ‘Lazy Sunday 2’, presumably a thank you and farewell to the late night sketch show that made him the internationally recognized comedian and film actor he is today.
In the funny video, Samberg raps “And that’s how I’ma finish it.” Lorne Michaels has not confirmed Samberg’s exit from ‘Saturday Night Live’, but he, along with Kristin Wiig and Jason Sudeikis, were expected to leave at the end of this season.
Additionally, Wiig was referred to as “one particular student who is leaving this summer,” so if 1 and 1 is 2, I think we have seen the last on Samberg on ‘SNL’.
Samberg fans shouldn’t fret… your favorite actor has three films scheduled for release in the next year; That’s My Boy, Hotel Transylvania, and The To Do List. Methinks his farewell on SNL is the mere beginning of a long and lucrative acting career.
