At the tender age of 40, Hollywood actor David Arquette decided to have a bar mitzvah ceremony, whilst in Israel filming a segment for his travel show on Monday. As a presenter for the Travel Channel program, Mile High, Arquette attended a bar mitzvah in Jerusalem, and was later asked if he too would like one.

Arquette, who’s mother is Jewish and grandmother was a Holocaust refugee from Nazi-occupied Poland, was born on a commune in Winchester, Virginia with little knowledge of Judaism.

Donning a Yarmulke and Tallit, the actor completed the rite of passage at the Wailing Wall, in Jerusalem’s Old City.

“I had my bar mitzvah today at the wall. Finally I’m a man,” Arquette later Tweeted.

“He was very emotional, saying he was happy to be part of the chain of the Jewish people. I’m very pleased to see a man who is returning to his roots,” said Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, who conducted the ceremony.

Arquette, best known for his role as Dewey Riley in the Scream films, separated from wife Courtney Cox in 2010. They have one daughter. Likewise, he is the youngest of the acting siblings who include Patricia and Rosanna Arquette.
