Today Officially Declared ‘Justin Bieber Appreciation Day’
Manhattan mayoral hopeful, Scott Stringer, announces Tuesday as Justin Bieber Day
Justin Bieber’s newest album ‘Believe’ was released internationally on Tuesday, but the superstar chose to appear at J&R Music in Manhattan for a recording signing. This gesture pleased Manhattan Borough President and 2013 mayoral hopeful, Scott Stringer, so much that he decided to officially mark today ‘Justin Bieber Appreciation Day.’
Scott Stringer waited patiently at J&R Music, along with thousands of screaming fans and photographers, for Justin Bieber to arrive for the signing. After arriving fashionably late, Bieber walked into the record store, found a Stevie Wonder vinyl, jumped on stage and began mouthing the words to one of his own songs playing over the loudspeaker… before approaching Stringer to accept a plaque “on behalf of the 1.6 million people who live in Manhattan”.
"From a borough president perspective it's great to recognize someone who is internationally known, but who comes to launch their new album right here in Manhattan. It shows the power of this city," Stringer told Daily Intel.
"I thought he would be impressed with all the people who came out to see me," Stringer said. "Let's just say I'm looking forward to Believe."
Stringer has received quite a few celebrity endorsements already. Scarlett Johansson was on hand to announce his run for mayor, and Debra Winger is hosting a fundraiser for him Tuesday evening. Hopefully, Stringer’s connection to Bieber will help pick up a few votes… if only 15-year old girls could vote.
