Man dressed as Elmo arrested in Central Park after spewing hate and obscenities
Central Park is the perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There are few places as lively and relaxing as the world’s most famous park, that is, until “Mentally Disturbed Elmo” decided to join.
Yesterday a man dressed as Elmo was arrested and carried out of Central Park in an ambulance after yelling obscenities and anti-Semitic rants at tourists and locals. The man, described as an “emotionally disturbed person” in a call to police, was also hassling tourists for money, which is par-for-the-course in New York and is likely why he hasn’t been arrested until today even though he’s been doing this since at least April.
