John Mayer found an innovative (and inexpensive) way to utilize social media for his new video. The four minute compilation for ‘Queen of California’, the most recent single off his album ‘Born and Raised’ uses the gaming app ‘Draw Something’ for its’ imagery.

Instead of drawing the images himself, Mayer hired one of the frequent ‘Draw Something’ users to conceptualize images based on the songs’ lyrics.

Considering the ‘Draw Something’ artist, Jimmy Thompson, depended solely on a gaming app to paint the videos’ pictures, the drawings are incredibly impressive with images ranging from headphones, music notes and landscapes to a portrait of Neil Young.

‘Born and Raised’ is Mayer’s first album since his highly publicized vocal chord surgery. Although the album has received international success, the singer/songwriter will not be able to tour due to aforementioned ailments.

"I went in for a visit on Wednesday and a scope of my vocal cords revealed that the granuloma has grown back where it had mostly healed. This is bad news," Mayer wrote on his Tumblr page in May.

"Because of this, I have no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing. Though there will be a day when all of this will be behind me, it will sideline me for a longer period of time than I care to have you count down."
