Always one to jump behind a cause that she believes in, Lea Michele has lent her support (and hands for that matter) to the Valspar Hands For Habitat initiative. The program auctions off celebrity handprints, in order to raise money for Habitat for Humanity’s disaster relief.

"I am honored to be partnering with Valspar Paint and Habitat for Humanity to help support those who need our support following natural disasters to get on the pathway to recovery. Everyone deserves a safe and secure place to live and it's a great feeling to know that through Valspar Hands for Habitat, we are bringing hope and comfort to families in need," Michele said in a statement.

On Friday, the Glee actress was at the Hearst Tower in New York City, to kick off the auction with handprints open for bidding until August 2nd, at 3 pm ET.

"When they asked me to do my handprint, I did it like a little activity in my backyard. They gave me a couple different paint samples and a couple of different canvas backgrounds. So I did like four different ones. I started to get a little carried away. I sent them in and then was like, 'OK, you guys pick and tell me what you think.’ All the colors were so bright and so pretty. I just think this is such a great and easy way to make money for such an incredible cause," Michele recently told E! News.

"Valspar has been supporting Habitat's mission and goals for more than 25 years, and we are so grateful for their ongoing partnership. The Valspar Hands for Habitat initiative provides critical support to our disaster response programs and is another example of Valspar's valued commitment to help us provide secure, decent housing," said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity.

Other individuals who have donated their handprints to the cause include: Susan Sarandon, Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers, Angela Bassett, and Andy Cohen just to name a few. For more information and auction details, visit www.facebook.com/ValsparPaint.
