Is Jason Segel Leaving 'How I Met Your Mother?'
The "HIMYM" star has been involved with the show for seven seasons.
Freaks and Geeks was the TV show that launched Jason Segel’s acting career. But How I Met Your Mother is the one that really brought him into the spotlight.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star has starred on the CBS sitcom alongside Neil Patrick Harris and Josh Radnor for the past seven years. However, an Austrian website is reporting this upcoming season could be Segel’s last.
“It’s great to do some ‘Rated R’ stuff again, because I’ve been playing the nice guy for quite a long time now.” The 32-year-old actor told Kurier.at. “That’s why I’m gonna quit How I Met Your Mother after the eighth season.”
How I Met Your Mother fans shouldn’t fret about Segel’s departure from the popular show just yet. His rep did not confirm he’s leaving HIMYM.
"Perhaps something got lost in translation, but Season 9 hasn't even been addressed yet," a rep for Segel commented in a statement, according to TVGuide.com.
Season 8 of How I Met Your Mother premieres on CBS this fall on Monday, Sept. 24.
