HBO Announces Larry David Movie
The comedy veteran intends to star as someone other than himself
HBO announced on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Larry David intends to write and star in a new feature film.
‘Seinfeld’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ creator, Larry David, plans to complete the film before commencing the next season of ‘Curb’.
The big news seems to be David’s interest in writing a different role from what he’s used to playing. On ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, David plays an exaggerated version of himself, and George Costanza’s character on ‘Seinfeld’ is loosely based on David.
He did excel in Woody Allen’s 2009 flick ‘Whatever Works’, replacing Allen as a sarcastic, mumbling cynic… but that’s not a far stretch for David, so it will be very interesting to see what he writes for himself to portray.
“Arrested Development and Newsroom” director, Greg Mottola, will helm the untitled film.
And what does this all mean for future seasons of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’?
"It means whatever Larry wants it to mean for future seasons of 'Curb,'" said HBO co-president Richard Plepler.
