Roseanne Barr Takes a New Quest For the White House
The comedian joins the Peace and Freedom ticket
Although her dreams of winning the presidential ticket for the Green Party were dashed, Roseanne Barr is not a woman who backs down easily. Now, the 59-year-old actress and comedian will take a new run for the White House on the Peace and Freedom ticket, with activist Cindy Sheehan. Sheehan gained notoriety in August 2005, when she held an anti-war vigil outside the Crawford, Texas ranch of then president George W. Bush. Her son, U.S. Army Spec. Casey Sheehan had been killed in Iraq in 2004.
"The American people are sick and tired of this 'lesser evil’ garbage they get fed every election year. Both the Democrats and the Republicans do the same evils once they’re in office. I’m here to tell the voters: if you want to tell the government and the two domineering parties that you’re sick and tired of all their evil, register in the Peace and Freedom Party and vote for me and Cindy,” Barr said in a press release.
“I am excited about the chance to infuse the message of socialism with the heart and soul that is missing from political discourse,” Sheehan said in the same release.
Founded in 1967, the left-leaning Peace and Freedom Party “is committed to socialism, democracy, ecology, feminism and racial equality” in addition to such things as, abortion rights, gay rights, and self determination.
