Gene Simmons ‘Family Jewels’ Ends After 7 Seasons
KISS tour gets in the way of popular reality show
A&E has officially announced the end of Gene Simmons’ reality show ‘Family Jewels’ after a successful seven seasons and 160 episodes.
Over the past seven years, ‘Family Jewels’ received an average of 1.5 million viewers per episode, with the famous wedding episode hitting an all-time high of 1.8 million. The show following KISS frontman, Gene Simmons, his wife Shannon Tweed, and their children has not been cancelled due to lack of demand, but instead the current KISS tour.
“With Kiss on tour and with my other business commitments, we have decided to draw the final curtain on our show,” Simmons said in a statement.
“It has been a wonderful, life-altering experience for our family, and after seven successful seasons, we feel it’s time to move on.”
The final season premiered in May with the one-hour wedding special, featuring Simmons marrying his partner of 28 years, Shannon Tweed.
A&E is disappointed that the show will not go on, but “could not be more proud of the unparalleled run.”
