Matisyahu Loses Film Role to Justin Timberlake
The Jewish rapper auditioned unsuccessfully for the new Coen Brothers film
A clean shaven Matisyahu revealed during a recent interview that he lost the role he auditioned for in an upcoming Coen Brothers film to pop singer, Justin Timberlake.
The new Coen Brothers film, titled ‘Inside Llewyn David’, was recently casting for a male lead to play Carey Mulligan’s husband, a struggling folk musician.
While speaking to New York Magazine, Matisyahu shared, “I actually auditioned for the recent Coen brothers movie, and that would have been awesome.”
Matisyahu wanted the role so much that he even took on some bad habits for the day.
“When I tried out for that, I don’t usually drink or smoke, but I had a drink of Scotch and a couple of cigarettes to get my voice all raspy. But Justin Timberlake got the role. Whatever.”
Well, I guess you won’t be able to see Matisyahu in the next Coen brothers film, but you can however, catch him in ‘The Possession’ or see him tonight at Stubb’s in Austin TX, or one of his other 50+ upcoming gigs over the next few months.
