Top 20 Under 40- Adam Shenkman
Age: 30
Proud Angelino, Adam Shenkman, is best known for his “progressive, radically unique comedy styling.” He has performed at LA’s most popular comedy venues including Comedy Store, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, and The Improv, and is seen regularly on “The Breakfast Show”, a morning show for kids that he created, writes, and stars in as “Adam O”.
Shenkman’s hilarious music videos such as “Sarah Silverman’s Trunk” and “Comedy Bomedy” have garnered critical acclaim and a loyal fan following.
If creating music videos, doing stand up, and “The Breakfast Show” aren’t enough, Shenkman also hosts a weekly show called “Shenk-Flo” and organizes “Legendary Shows” that feature anything from eating “Shenksgiving Dinner” on stage with his family to interviewing an Elvis mannequin.
Shenkman may have countless projects going on simultaneously, but he considers his greatest accomplishment “The Breakfast Show”.
“The Breakfast Show” is a monthly educational program for kid’s aged 1-100. “It features sing-a-long songs, audience participation, face-painting, education, balloons, surprises, strange new worlds, and of course, the most important meal of the day.” Every month’s show is completely unique, with special guests ranging from escape artists and ballerinas to centaurs and jugglers.
Shenkman hopes to one day bring his self-described “surreal, mind bending, corky, loving, and honest” brand of comedy to “The Breakfast Show: The Movie” and describes his dream project as creating “The Shenkman Family Doc”, a “doc about my family and that shows you the life of the last vaudevillian family in LA”.
The LA Times wrote, “If you’ve never witnessed Shenkman’s hilariously bizarre antics before, it’s a great time to get acquainted”. We couldn’t agree more, and that’s why Adam Shenkman landed on our Top 20 list.
