Israelis Push for Lower Ticket Prices
Facebook group pressured Metallica.
Stemming from their dismay over concert ticket prices, thousands of Israelis signed a petition on a Facebook group page that vowed to boycott Metallica’s show in May. Hard rock metal band Metallica caved in to the pressure and lowered ticket prices soon after.
“After a four-day campaign, tons of news items about us worldwide, over 6,000 supporters and numerous media interviews, we can say that we did it! We won!” read the Facebook page's status after Metallica announced the new prices.
It was rumoured that the tickets cost three to four times more at the group’s previous shows in Europe. The cheapest one was reportedly $159.
This marks Metallica’s third visit the Israel and the first since 1999. The concert will be held at the Ramat Gan Stadium. R & B artist Rihanna will also be holding a concert in May at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
