Save A Child’s Heart (SACH), the magnificent organization responsible for saving hundreds of children with cardiac defects in developing countries, raised over $400,000 at their annual Heart & Soul Un-Gala.

On September 21st, over 400 supporters attended the event at Toronto’s Drake Hotel on Queen St. The funds raised will allow the Israeli-based humanitarian organization to perform heart surgeries on children in need ($10,000 per child), and also continue to train medical professionals in developing nations. Save A Child’s Heart places high value on sustainable development. Their training programs aim to improve the skill and expertise of local pediatric cardiac care. Thousands of children with operable heart defects go untreated every day due to lack of medical expertise. Save A Child’s Heart not only sends volunteers to help these children, but believes providing the necessary skills to local doctors will allow more children to be saved.

"The Un-Gala was a huge success both from a humanitarian perspective and a social perspective. To be able to have a great time knowing that you are helping children makes this event truly worthwhile and memorable. I'm proud to be associated with Save a Child's Heart and the important work that they do," says Stephen Diamond, Advisory Board for SACH Canada.

The Heart & Soul Un-Gala, billed as having “UNparalleled live music, UNusually good food, and UNinhibited good times”, featured the likes of Alana Bridgewater, Terence Gowan, Jordan John, Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer Prakash John, and a special guest appearance by Geoff and Chris Dahl performing ‘I’m A Soulman’.

"The Heart & Soul 2nd annual Un-Gala event was an unparalleled evening filled with warmth, awareness and great times shared by all," boasted Tina Urman, SACH Foundation Canada Board.

Dr. Lior Sasson (Lead Cardiac Surgeon for SACH) and Simon Fisher (Executive Director for SACH in Israel) are scheduled to visit Jimma, Ethiopia next month to interview candidiates for selection in their pediatric cardiac training program.
