Shalom Life compiles a list of the most influential Jewish politicians in office worldwide

Today however, Jews from across the globe hold political positions in their respective governments, including even some in the top jobs in U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration.
Shalom Life has compiled a list of who we believe to be the top 10 Jewish politicians currently in office. The list ranges from our home and native land of Canada, to the Arab country of Bahrain, and of course, Eretz Yisrael.

Honourable mentions:
Beatriz Rojkés and José Alperovich
Rojkés is an Argentinean politician who has served on the Argentine National Senate since she was elected in 2009. She became the first Jew elected as Provisional President of the Senate in November 2011, where she has served ever since. The office puts her in second place of the Argentine line of succession and third in the government after the president and vice-president. In May, Rojkés acted as President of Argentina and was in charge of the government for just under two days, when President Christina Fernandez and Vice-President Amado Boudou were both out of the country at the same time. Although she held the position temporarily, Rojkés officially became the first Jewish President of Argentina.
Rojkés is married to fellow Jewish Argentinean politician Jose Alperovich, the governor of the country’s Tucumán province. He was elected as governor in 2003 after previously serving in the senate since 2001. Alperovich became the first Jewish person in Argentina to be elected a governor after speculation that he would not be able to hold the position, due to a provincial law that would have required him to give an oath on the Christian Bible. The Supreme Court eventually made an amendment to the law, allowing him to take the oath using a Torah.
Nancy Khedouri
Khedouri is a Jewish female parliamentarian in Bahrain who serves as the deputy chairwoman of the foreign affairs, defense and national security committee.The Bahraini legislature appointed her to the position in April. Khedouri, the third Jewish Bahraini to be appointed to the Shura council, has served as an MP since 2010 when she replaced Houda Nonoo, her cousin, in parliament. She is the author of a book titled, “From Our Beginning To Present Day,” which aims to capture the stories and recollections of Bahraini Jews so that memories are preserved as Bahrain is thrust into a new economy and life style. Khedouri has also served as a member of The Coordination Council for Women Empowerment at The Supreme Council for Women.
